vivo India has launched the vivo T5, marking the newest entry in its performance-focused Series-T smartphone portfolio, as it had announced. The handset focuses on hardware performance, on-device artificial intelligence, battery endurance, and display quality, packaged within an ultra-slim chassis.
Hardware, Processing, and Thermal Management
The vivo T5 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo processor, built on a 4nm architecture. The octa-core chip integrates a Krake GPU and an 8th-generation GenAI-ready NPU designed to run on-device AI tasks—such as executing a 3-billion-parameter large language model at roughly 10 tokens per second—with reduced dependency on cloud servers.
Internal testing records an AnTuTu benchmark score exceeding 1.2 million. To manage sustained thermal output, the device incorporates:
- A 3,800 mm² vapor chamber cooling unit
- A total heat dissipation area of 23,062 mm²
- Ten embedded temperature sensors for real-time thermal monitoring
Display, Audio, and Exterior Design
On the front, the smartphone carries a 6.83-inch (17.35 cm) 1.5K 3D curved AMOLED screen supporting a 144Hz refresh rate, a 93.82% screen-to-body ratio, 449 PPI pixel density, and up to 2,000 nits High Brightness Mode (HBM). It includes HDR10+ certification alongside SGS validations for low blue light, low flicker, and sunlight legibility. Software display safeguards include Eye Protection Mode, Sleep Comfort Mode, and Anti-Fatigue Brightness Adjustment.
Audio is handled via symmetrical dual stereo speakers supported by vivo’s VEQ low-volume bass-enhancement algorithm.
The phone measures 0.79 cm in thickness and weighs 199 grams. The chassis utilizes an integrated narrow-frame edge finish and an aluminum horizontal camera housing. Available finishes include Royal Bronze and Silver Green, the latter utilizing an Aurora Liquid Crystal process for shifting color reflections.
Camera System and Optics
The imaging setup includes:
- Primary Rear: 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with 4-axis Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Sony Aura Light
- Ultra-Wide Rear: 8MP sensor with a 115° field of view
- Front-Facing: 32MP sensor with an 84° field of view
Both the front and rear setups support 4K video capture stabilized via combined OIS and EIS. Additional camera features include multifocal portrait modes (1x, 1.5x, 2x), Bokeh Flare effects, and AI Erase 2.0 object removal tools.
Battery Capacity and Charging
Power is provided by a 7,050 mAh battery rated for up to 1,600 charge-discharge cycles while retaining at least 80% effective capacity. Charging is supported by 44W FlashCharge, capable of reaching 44% from an empty state in 30 minutes.
Supplemental power features include:
- Battery Life Extender: Prioritizes baseline connectivity during critical battery thresholds.
- Global Bypass Charging: Feeds power directly to system components when operating above 20% charge to minimize heat buildup during active use.
Software and Durability
The vivo T5 runs on OriginOS 6.0, backed by three planned Android version upgrades and five years of security updates. The OS features productivity tools such as vivo Office Kit for cross-device PC mirroring, Circle to Search 2.0, AI Transcript Assist, and private workspace partitions.
The chassis carries combined IP68 and IP69 ingress ratings against high-pressure water jets and liquid submersion, supplemented by MIL-STD-810H durability compliance and wet-hand screen input tracking.
