HONOR Robot Phone: Dual 200MP cameras, AiMAGE Architecture, ARRI Log-C3 encoding confirmed, to be introduced on August 12

HONOR hosted its Imaging Technology Launch in Hengdian, introducing a revised mobile imaging strategy alongside new hardware, processing frameworks, and creative partnerships. Transitioning away from purely hardware-focused specification races, HONOR outlined a systematic approach to mobile creation spanning optical capture, artificial intelligence, and cinema-grade post-production workflows.

Alongside the imaging announcements, HONOR formally unveiled an updated brand identity and shared significant pre-order milestones for its upcoming flagship, signaling its corporate evolution from a smartphone manufacturer toward a broader AI terminal ecosystem provider.

HONOR AiMAGE: The Chip-Device-Cloud Engine

Central to the announcements was the Optics-Intelligence Evolution guiding principle, summarized by the strategy that physical optics establish the baseline of image quality while intelligent processing expands creative limits. To execute this vision, HONOR detailed its HONOR AiMAGE engine, structured across three interconnected operational layers:

  • Chip Level: Development of a proprietary Transformer-based native AI Image Signal Processor (ISP) engineered to overhaul standard image processing pipelines. This works in conjunction with next-generation pixel arrays and Event-Based Vision Sensor (EVS) technology to capture higher-fidelity raw input data.
  • Device Level: Integration of physical stabilization hardware with real-time computational algorithms. Hardware includes a custom titanium alloy three-axis gimbal and high-precision sensing components designed to coordinate stabilization with motion tracking.
  • Cloud Level: Expansion into cloud-based computational processing, utilizing RAW-domain image enhancement, spatial imaging tech, and automated Imaging Agent tools to alleviate hardware compute limits during post-processing and content generation.
Engineering and Hardware Miniaturization

Packing robotic components into a standard smartphone form factor required significant rethinking of space, strength, and weight. Drawing on reliability know-how developed for foldable devices, HONOR achieved several engineering milestones:

  • High-Performance Materials: The chassis utilizes 2800Mpa high-performance materials engineered with 0.001mm simulation accuracy for extreme durability and precision.
  • Micro Motor Miniaturization: HONOR developed a custom micro motor that is 70% smaller than the industry’s mainstream options.
  • 4DoF Gimbal System: This reduction in motor size allowed HONOR to integrate the industry’s smallest 4DoF gimbal system directly into the phone, creating the hardware foundation for its embodied motion control.
HONOR Robot Phone: Specifications and Commercial Reception

Ahead of its official release in China scheduled for August 12, HONOR officially announced that pre-orders for the HONOR Robot Phone across all channels have exceeded 200,000 units, surpassing all previous flagship records for the brand.
