KRAFTON India has launched BGMI Campus MVP, a 90-day student leadership initiative aimed at building and nurturing Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) communities across premier engineering institutions in the country.
The inaugural cohort brings together 150 student ambassadors representing 17 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and 28 National Institutes of Technology (NITs). These ambassadors will act as community leaders tasked with organising tournaments, producing gaming content, hosting campus meet-ups, and driving peer engagement.
Program Structure and Selection
The initiative received over 16,000 applications from more than 5,000 institutions nationwide. From this applicant pool, 150 ambassadors were chosen for the first cohort, while an additional 100 students were placed in a reserve pool. Selected ambassadors have completed their onboarding and orientation, and are currently executing the opening phase of the program.
The 90-day program is structured across three distinct phases:
- Phase 1: Foundation: Ambassadors focus on onboarding players, conducting Classic Match sessions, and publishing at least two in-game content reels.
- Phase 2: Expansion: Focus shifts to running Team Deathmatch (TDM) tournaments, hosting an offline campus meet-up, and growing the local player cohort to at least 20 members.
- Phase 3: Championship: Leaders will organise inter-department tournaments and represent their respective campuses in national inter-institute rivalry matches scheduled for October.
Incentive Structure for Ambassadors and Participants
The program incorporates a tier-based reward system for both ambassadors and participating players based on task completion and performance:
Ambassador Rewards
Ambassadors accrue Rank Points (RP) as they complete tasks across the three phases. Lower tiers offer welcome kits along with food or e-commerce vouchers. Higher ranks unlock in-game UC, trigger sets, premium headphones, and a Level 3 backpack. The top five performing ambassadors nationally will attain Conqueror rank, receiving total rewards valued up to INR 15,000.
Player Rewards
Students recruited by ambassadors compete for specific phase-based incentives:
- Phase 1: Food vouchers for Classic Match winners.
- Phase 2: Premium vouchers for TDM and offline event winners.
- Phase 3: BGMI merchandise hampers for inter-department rivalry winners.
Broader Ecosystem Strategy
The BGMI Campus MVP initiative is part of KRAFTON India’s broader strategy to deepen engagement with student demographics by integrating online competitions with offline campus experiences. Following recent milestones—including BGMI’s five-year presence in India, expanded creator partnerships, and live events like HOT DROP—the company plans to use data and top performers from this initial cohort to scale the initiative to additional institutions in future phases.
