Google has started rolling out new agentic capabilities in its AI Mode to help users complete tasks more easily, beginning with restaurant reservation discovery in India.
New agentic capabilities in AI Mode
AI Mode introduces the ability to handle complex restaurant booking requests by understanding multiple user preferences and automating the search process. Users can input detailed requirements, and the system identifies matching options in real time.
Key capabilities include:
- Finding restaurant reservations based on party size, date, time, location, and preferred cuisine
- Searching across multiple reservation platforms and websites
- Checking real-time availability of restaurants
- Presenting a curated list of restaurants with available reservation slots
- Linking users directly to booking pages to complete reservations
- Using live web browsing capabilities from Project Mariner
- Integrating directly with partners on Search
- Leveraging Google Knowledge Graph and Google Maps for results
AI Mode processes these requests by scanning multiple sources and compiling matching options into a simplified booking flow.
