Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro Review: Samsung’s best buds gets better

Samsung launched the Galaxy Buds4 Pro, the company’s latest premium earbuds, in India and other markets back in February. These promise improved adaptive ANC, have dual drivers, and have improved call quality. So, are these the best true wireless earbuds in the premium segment? Let us dive into the review to find out.

Design and Build Quality

Starting with the design, the headset comes in a square-shaped charging case instead of the oval-shaped one in the predecessor, and this opens from the top. It has a glass cover that lets you see the earbuds clearly and seems scratch-resistant since I didn’t see any scratches during my use.

You can see the Samsung logo. The charging case weighs 44.3 grams, and it measures 51 x 28.3 x 51mm. There is a tiny LED indicator on the front that glows in green and red colours.

The USB Type-C port is present at the back along with a function button.

The case also has wireless charging support.

The headset has a mostly plastic build with a matte finish so it doesn’t attract fingerprints. There is a touch-sensitive sensor on the inside for wear detection so that it can automatically pause the audio when you remove it from your ears and play when you put it back. This is off by default, and you have to enable it manually from the companion app.

This uses squeeze or press controls on the sides that we had seen in the older models.

The back of the stem has a metal finish that looks and feels premium. You can see the microphone on the top. The earbuds measure 30.9 x 18.1 x 19.6mm and weigh about 5.1 grams and feature an in-ear design. The earbuds come with medium-sized ear tips pre-installed, but you can change to the bundled large and small ear tips if you wish. I found the medium loose, so switched to small, which was perfect for my ears. Since the ear tips lock tightly in the grooves, it is a bit hard to remove, but these are attached to the buds securely.

Overall, the headset offers a good build quality, especially for the casing, and fits your ears perfectly so that they don’t fall off your ears easily, even during outdoor activities like running. The earphones also have IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance, so they can withstand splashes or light rain. The company says that it has been tested in 1 m fresh water for 30 minutes without moving.

Connectivity, Pairing, and Controls

The Galaxy Buds4 Pro supports Bluetooth 6.1 with SBC, AAC and Samsung Seamless Codec (SSC) Ultra High Quality Audio (UHQ) Option, offering 24-bit depth and 96 kHz sampling rate when paired with an eligible Galaxy device.

The pairing process is very easy for Samsung. Just open the charging case, and it shows up on the phone or tablet. To connect to a non-Samsung phone or other Bluetooth device, place the Buds into the charging case with the cover opened. Press and hold the setup button in the case for 3 seconds to enter Bluetooth settings. Then, select Galaxy Buds4 Pro. The volume control slider is on right or left earbuds

Function Left earphone (L) Right earphone (R)
Play / Pause and Answer call Squeeze once
Play next track or Reject a call Squeeze twice
Play previous track Squeeze thrice
Enable noise cancellation / decline call Squeeze and hold for 1s

You can customise the controls from the settings if you have a Samsung phone. Others can use the Galaxy Wearable app on Android. You can’t edit single pinch, double pinch or triple pinch, but you can customize punch and hold controls.

The Earbuds fit test option plays music to ensure that your ear tips make a good seal with your ear canal for better noise-cancelling.

Audio Quality

The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro 2-way speaker that include wider woofer and the tweeter paired with two dedicated amplifiers for each speaker driver, delivering a sophisticated and balanced sound signature that justifies its “Pro” moniker. By separating the woofer and tweeter, Samsung has managed to achieve a level of clarity where the mids don’t get muddied by the bass, and the highs remain crisp without becoming piercing.

When using the Samsung Seamless Codec (SSC) UHQ on a compatible Galaxy device, the difference in detail is palpable. High-resolution tracks from platforms like Tidal or Apple Music reveal subtle textures in instruments that are often lost on standard AAC. The bass is punchy and tight—not overwhelming, but providing a satisfying “thump” that feels physical thanks to the dual-amp setup.

Spatial Audio and EQ

It offers 360 Audio with Head Tracking for a wide soundstage, but it works only with Samsung Galaxy smartphones and Galaxy Tab devices.

It features 6 equalizer modes – Balanced (default), Bass boost, Smooth, Dynamic, Clear, Treble boost – so that every song can be heard how it should.  You can also create custom EQ.

The Dynamic EQ mode is likely where most users will stay, as it provides a slight boost to both ends of the frequency spectrum, making the audio feel “alive.” If you prefer a flatter response for podcasts or vocal-heavy tracks, the Clear or Balanced modes perform admirably.

The earbuds also support the neck stretch reminder generated by the built-in IMU sensors. The sensors also let you accept or reject calls by moving your head up and down or side to side. You can also interact with Bixby without speaking, allowing for more convenient hands-free control. When the feature is turned on from the connected Galaxy device, the earbuds recognise head movements to control calls. These features work only with Samsung Galaxy devices.

The Galaxy Buds4 Pro supports Galaxy AI features such as Interpreter and Live Translate when paired with compatible Samsung Galaxy devices.

Noise Cancellation and Call Performance

Regarding the Noise cancellation, the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) blocks the ambient sound that helps in most cases. You can feel the difference when you are listening outdoors. For the price, it does a good job. You can adjust the ANC strength.

The adaptive mode adapts to the conditions, and the ambient mode allows you to listen to ambient sound so that you can recognize the surrounding situation and any potential risks. You can also enable it to auto switch to ambient sound with voice detection or siren detection.

Coming to the call noise cancellation, it uses 6 microphones positioned around the head to intelligently isolate it from the background sound with an advanced Deep Neural Network (DNN). It also uses Super Wideband (SWB) up to 16 kHz between the Galaxy Buds4 Pro and the Galaxy smartphone. During my use outdoors, wind noise was completely cut out to the receiver, and the traffic noise was faintly audible.

Battery Life

The earphones pack a 61mAh battery that promises about 10 hours of standalone battery life on AAC, 6 hours with ANC and 7 hours without ANC. During my use I got about 6 and a half hours at about 60% volume, so it is good.  For calls, it lasts only for 4.5 hours since it uses call noise cancellation tech.

With the 530mAh charging case, it promises up to 30 hours of total battery life without ANC and 26 hours of total battery life with noise cancellation enabled.

The green light in the case indicates that the battery is high, and it turns red when it is low. You can also see the charge left in the case in the Galaxy Wearable app when the earbuds are placed in the case.

Charging the case fully with the earbuds takes about an hour. It also has fast charging, so that you get 1.7 hours of playback with 15 minutes of charging. The charging case also offers wireless charging, so you can simply drop your earbuds onto a Qi Wireless charging pad, but it takes over 2 and half hours to charge the case fully.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro represents a significant step forward in Samsung’s audio journey. While the design shift to a square case and glass lid is a bold aesthetic choice, the real “pro” upgrades are internal. The integration of Bluetooth 6.1 and the improved SSC UHQ codec ensures that these are future-proofed for the next generation of high-fidelity mobile audio.

The addition of Galaxy AI features like real-time interpretation makes these more than just music accessories; they are becoming productivity tools. However, the price hike puts them in direct competition with the Sony WF-1000XM series and Apple’s AirPods Pro.

If you are a Samsung Galaxy user, these are arguably the best earbuds you can buy today due to the seamless integration and exclusive features. For those on other Android devices or iOS, you’re still getting great hardware, but you’re paying a premium for a suite of software features you simply cannot use.
