Bharti Airtel has announced the deployment of more than 4,300 new 5G sites in the Uttar Pradesh (UP) East telecom circle over the past 12 months. The expansion is part of the telecommunications provider’s ongoing efforts to increase its network infrastructure in the region.
According to the company, the network expansion spans 48 districts within the UP East circle, establishing coverage for approximately 34 million individuals across urban centers, developing towns, and rural villages. To achieve this footprint, Airtel reported an average installation rate of 12 new sites per day.
The expanded 5G network covers several key districts, including:
- Lucknow
- Kanpur
- Varanasi
- Prayagraj
- Gorakhpur
- Ayodhya
- Jhansi
The infrastructure upgrade is intended to support the digital connectivity requirements of varied demographics, including students, businesses, micro-entrepreneurs, and government institutions. The company noted that its investments are focused on increasing network density across diverse geographical zones, such as rural and semi-urban areas, highways, border regions, and economic corridors.
In conjunction with the infrastructure expansion, Airtel highlighted its commercial offerings for the region. The company currently provides a ₹399 prepaid recharge plan for smartphone users, which includes unlimited 4G and 5G data, as well as unlimited voice calls, with a validity period of 28 days.
