vivo held its spring product launch event today in China, introducing the new X300s smartphone alongside the G2 teleconverter accessory, as it had announced. The announcements focused heavily on mobile imaging advancements and updated display technologies.
X300s Display and Performance
The vivo X300s is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, supplemented by the company’s proprietary V3+ imaging chip.
The device features a 6.78-inch flat display, marking the first model in the vivo X series to incorporate a 144Hz refresh rate. Key display specifications include:
- Panel Technology: Built with 8T LTPO technology and a Q10 Plus luminescent substrate.
- Dimming & Brightness: Supports 2160Hz full-brightness high-frequency PWM dimming and full-brightness DC dimming, with a global peak brightness of up to 2000 nits.
- Color & Gaming: Covers 100% of the P3 wide color gamut and is certified compatible with the native 144FPS ultra-high image quality setting in the mobile game Honor of Kings.
Camera Hardware and Optics
Imaging remains a central focus for the X series, with the X300s featuring a dual high-resolution camera system certified by Zeiss:
- Main Camera: A 200-megapixel Samsung HPB sensor (1/1.4-inch in size) equipped with CIPA 4.5 professional-grade image stabilization.
- Telephoto Lens: A Sony LYTIA 602 sensor, carrying Zeiss APO certification and also supporting CIPA 4.5 image stabilization.
- Lighting: The phone debuts Zoom Flash II, which utilizes new LED materials to achieve a 14% improvement in the color rendering index. It supports over ten distinct film-style lighting profiles.
Software and AI Imaging Features
The X300s introduces several new software tools aimed at expanding creative control for photographers:
- Blueprint Color Palette: A new function that allows users to manually adjust image filters, with built-in support for saving, sharing, and secondary editing.
- AI Creation Camera: Designed to adapt automatically to specific thematic photography styles, such as anime cosplay and Hanfu travel photography. According to vivo, the tool processes key visual information directly during the shooting stage to provide stable image output while maintaining realistic facial rendering.
G2 Teleconverter
Alongside the smartphone, vivo launched the 200mm G2 teleconverter, a compact mobile photography accessory.
- Dimensions: Weighing 153g and measuring 96mm in length, the company emphasized its portability, comparing its footprint to that of a lipstick.
- Optics: It features an upgraded 15-element optical structure that meets Zeiss APO standards.
- Capabilities: The teleconverter is specifically designed to support 200mm portrait video recording.
