Samsung India secures Guinness World Records with ‘India #WithGalaxy’ campaign

Samsung India has announced that its recent photography initiative, the “India #WithGalaxy” challenge, has been recognized by Guinness World Records (GWR). The campaign, which centered on the capabilities of the Galaxy S Series smartphones, achieved two distinct global benchmarks in mass participation and digital content creation.

Record-Breaking Achievements

The campaign, designed to capture the diverse cultural landscape of India, successfully set two new world records:

  • Largest Smartphone Photography Competition: The initiative has been certified as the largest competition of its kind in history based on participation numbers.
  • Most Contributions to an Online Photo Sentence: The submissions were compiled to form a large-scale collaborative digital artwork, recognized for the high volume of contributions toward a single visual mosaic.
Campaign Overview and Participation

Running from December 30, 2025, to January 26, 2026, the campaign invited Indian citizens to document their surroundings using Samsung Galaxy S Series devices. According to the company, the initiative received a total of 31,331 submissions.

The project was anchored by filmmaker Kabir Khan, alongside over 30 regional photographers who helped facilitate the documentation of the country’s visual narrative.

Thematic Focus

The campaign sought to curate a “visual mosaic” of the country by categorizing submissions into four distinct themes:

  • Faces of India: Portraits highlighting the demographic diversity of the population.
  • Sights of India: Images capturing landscapes, ranging from the Himalayas to coastal regions and architectural heritage.
  • Spirit of India: Candid moments depicting daily life, unity, and resilience.
  • Colours of India: Visuals focusing on the textures, attire, and cuisine unique to different Indian regions.
Context and Background

The Galaxy S Series, first launched in 2010, has long been Samsung’s flagship line for mobile photography. This campaign utilized the device’s technical capabilities to foster a community-led narrative.

In a statement regarding the achievement, Samsung acknowledged the participants and partners involved, noting that the campaign was intended to merge technological prowess with cultural storytelling. The resulting digital artwork stands as a testament to the collaborative creativity of the participants.

Regarding the achievement, Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President, MX Business, Samsung India, said:

The India #WithGalaxy campaign unites people and celebrates the essence of a nation. By setting two Guinness World Records, we have showcased the capabilities of the Galaxy S Series and amplified the voices of our consumers who celebrate India’s diversity, beauty, and spirit through their lenses. This initiative reflects Samsung’s commitment to fostering innovation and cultural storytelling, empowering individuals to share their unique perspectives. We are immensely proud of this achievement and grateful to everyone who contributed to making this milestone possible.
