HONOR 500 and HONOR 500 Pro with 6.55″ 120Hz OLED display, Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 / 8 Elite, 200MP camera, 8000mAh battery announced

HONOR just announced the HONOR 500 and HONOR 500 Pro in China, as it had promised. These pack a 6.55″ FHD+ 120Hz OLED flat display with up to 6000 nits HDR Peak brightness and 1.05mm ultra-narrow bezels around the screen.

The HONOR 500 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, while the Pro version is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. These feature industry-exclusive HONOR Phantom Engine, which can maintain 120 frames per second when playing a popular MOBA mobile game, and reach 118.4 frames per second with 1% Low Frames, claiming “0.00% jitter rate”, said the company.

HONOR 500 Pro

In terms of design, the HONOR 500 series phones are available in four colors: Moonlight Silver, Aquamarine, Starlight Pink, and Obsidian Black. The rear camera module adopts a brand-new “Crystal Island” design, which improves space utilization by 10% compared to the previous generation. The body thickness is just 7.75mm and these have IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.

For the camera, the HONOR 500 series phones are equipped with a 200-megapixel camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor size, which is said to be the “largest in its class”. There is also a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The Pro model has a 50-megapixel telephoto lens. The standard version has a CPIA image stabilization level of 4.5, while the Pro version has 5.0, which is said to be the “most image stabilized in its class”. These come with a 50MP front camera.

In terms of battery, these are equipped with 8000mAh battery, supporting 80W wired superfast charging, and 27W wired reverse charging, and there is 50W wireless superfast charging in the Pro version that also features 3D ultrasonic fingerprint recognition.
