Rockstar Games has postponed the release of Grand Theft Auto VI again, which is now scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. This revised date follows previous delay to May 2026 from late 2025 time frame. The company released the first trailer of Grand Theft Auto VI back in December 2023.
The company issued a statement regarding the updated timeline:
Hi everyone,
Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.
We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.
Sincerely, Rockstar Games
The stated reason for the adjustment is to give the team some additional time to finish the game with a high level of polish players expect and deserve. Take-Two, the parent company, reported its financial results. During the earnings call, Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO, Take-Two Interactive said that Grand Theft Auto V continues to grow its audience, and to date, the title has sold in more than 220 million units worldwide.
He added that players remain deeply engaged with Grand Theft Auto Online, which added holiday-themed jobs and rewards, as well as new vehicles, community events, and outfits. GTA Plus continued to increase its membership, achieving over 20% growth year over year.
“Consumers’ ongoing passion and engagement with the franchise, which we believe will help usher in a record-breaking launch for Grand Theft Auto VI,” he added.
