Lenskart announced that its upcoming AI Camera Smartglasses, B by Lenskart, will be available to India’s developer ecosystem. This initiative allows independent developers and consumer apps to integrate Lenskart’s AI and camera technology across categories such as food delivery, entertainment, fitness, and productivity.
Developer Ecosystem: B by Lenskart
The company’s move enables developers to build applications on B by Lenskart, extending the functionality of smartglasses beyond lifestyle use. Lenskart aims to establish India’s first full-stack wearables ecosystem, combining hardware, AI, and software under one platform.
Design and Engineering
B by Lenskart is designed and engineered in India, with an expected launch by December 2025. The device weighs 40 grams, approximately 20% lighter than comparable smartglasses, and is engineered for everyday wear.
Hardware and AI Features
The smartglasses are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset, the same platform used in leading global AR devices.
They include an integrated Sony camera for hands-free photo and video capture. The built-in AI assistant, powered by Gemini 2.5 Live, supports voice interactions, live translation, hands-free UPI payments, and wellness insights.
Strategic Initiatives
Lenskart will leverage its omnichannel retail network, consumer data intelligence, and end-to-end control over manufacturing and supply chain to expand smartglasses adoption. The company has also made strategic investments in XR and AI startups, including Ajna Lens, to build a comprehensive technology stack for wearables.
Market Outlook
Industry estimates project the global smartglasses market to reach USD 4–5 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of around 30%, and India positioned as a key growth market.
