Apple ‘Gather Round’ special event scheduled for September 12, new iPhones, iPads and more expected

Apple has officially announced its September 12th event, after recent rumors. This year’s invite The event takes place at Steve Jobs Theater located at the company Apple Park campus. Apple is expected to announce three iPhone – 6.5-inch OLED iPhone X Plus, 5.8-inch OLED iPhone X successor and a cheaper 6.1-inch LCD model all with a notch, Face ID with gesture-based control system and new A12 processor.

The OLED iPhone are expected to come with up to 512GB storage and with dual 12-megapixel rear cameras with OIS, while the LCD iPhone is said to feature a single rear camera. The 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone variants are expected come in both single and dual-SIMs (for select markets like China). The entry-level model is said to start at $699 and the top-end OLED model could cost $999.

Apple is expected to stick to Intel Modems globally, as hinted by Qualcomm earlier.

We can expect Apple Watch Series 4 with a new design, larger display, solid state buttons and improved heart rate detection, new iPads, including two iPad Pro models with Face ID and no Home button in 11-inch version and a 12.9-inch version. Apple could also introduce new MacBook Air with Retina display, new Mac mini with improved hardware, new iMacs with True Tone and likely a new 12-inch MacBook, all the new Intel’s 8th generation processors.

Apple is also expected to reveal the sale date of its AirPower wireless charging mat after several delays.  Apple will also officially launch the iOS 12, watchOS 5, tvOS 12 and macOS Mojave.

The Apple event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 12 and starts at 10:00 am PT (10:30 PM IST) and happens at the Steve Jobs Theater located at the company’s new Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California.  As usual it will offer live stream iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using Safari on iOS 10 or later; Mac using Safari on macOS Sierra 10.12 or later; PC using Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge. It also said that other platforms may also be able to access the stream using recent versions of Chrome or Firefox (MSE, H.264, and AAC required).
