Cyanogen teams up with Playphone to bring Game Store to Cyanogen OS


Cyanogen has partnered with Playphone to help bring social gaming to emerging markets. Under the partnership, Cyanogen will pre-install Playphone software on future Cyanogen OS products.

Playphone is a social game store that boasts of Android games and is similar to the Google Play Store. It delivers Android games to international markets including Southeast Asia, Latin America, North America, and Europe. Playphone also offers a Social Gaming Network through which gamers from any of multiple platforms including Android, iOS, Windows Phone can compete against each other in games without having to be on the same platform.

said Vikram Natarajan, SVP of Global Partnerships and Distribution of Cyanogen Inc.

Cyanogen is a mobile OS built on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and claims to have over 50 million people across 190 countries are already using devices powered by Cyanogen OS. Game developers add games to the Playphone Game Store by simply uploading their existing Android game file (APK) to Playphone’s Developer Portal (developer.playphone.com). Cyanogen raised $80 million in latest round of funding in March this year.
