LG announced the G Watch R, the company’s second Android Wear smartwatch and the successor of the G Watch recently. It  went on sale in the U.S. on Google Play recently for $299. We brought you the unboxing of the G Watch R recently. Now lets compare the LG G Watch R with LG G Watch that was announced back in June.

The G Watch R has a circular 1.3-inch (320 x 320 pixels) P-OLED Display while the G Watch has square 1.65 inch IPC LCD display. G Watch R is made from a combination of stainless steel and aluminium, with a plastic back. The G Watch on the other hand is made of plastic. Both the smarwatches are  powered by a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 SoC and have 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. G Watch R has an ambient light sensor hence it can adjust the brightness automatically.

Both the devices are dust and water-resistant and can stay in water up to meter deep for 30 minutes. Also both these run on Android Wear and connect with all Android devices running 4.3 Jelly Bean or higher. Both the smartwatches have Accelerometer,Compass, Gyro, pedometer, heart rate monitor and several set of sensors. However, the G Watch R has an addition Barometer functionality. Charging pins that are required to charge the watch are present at the bottom of both the devices.

The G Watch R has a button on the right side while the G Watch has no buttons. The former comes with leather straps while the latter comes in black and white color straps. The LG G Watch R has a 410mAh battery and the G Watch 400 mAH battery.

The LG G Watch R is now on sale in the U.S ($299), Australia and Japan. It is expected to go on sale in other countries, including India soon, while the LG G Watch is available in India for Rs 14,999.
