Motorola has sold 2.5 million smartphones via Flipkart in India

Flipkart has announced that they have sold 2.5 million Motorola smartphones in India till date. This includes all the Motorola smartphones, including the latest second-gen Moto G and Moto X smartphones. To celebrate the milestone, Flipkart is offering a chance to win gift vouchers worth Rs. 50000 for 5 lucky winners and 100% cashback for 100 customers as store credit for customers those who purchase Motorola smartphones from November 24th till December 7th.

Motorola announced back in April that it shipped 6.5 million smartphones globally in Q1 2014. There were some reports back in July that said that 1 million Motorola smartphones were sold in India in the first five months of launch. Later Flipkart said that it sold 1.6 million Motorola smartphones till September, now the number rose to 2.5 million in just two months. According to handset sales tracker Canalys’ report, Motorola is the fourth largest smartphone vendor in India by shipments as of Q2 2014 by shipping 955,650 units in the quarter.

Lenovo recently completed Motorola acquisition for $2.91 billion, so Motorola Mobility is now officially a part of Lenovo. Motorola already started rolling out Lollipop update for the second-gen Moto G and Moto X smartphones and has promised Android 5.0 update for all its Moto X, Moto G and Droid series.
