Uber expands its coverage in Chennai

Uber launched its services in Chennai earlier this year with coverage to core areas in the city. Today, the luxury car service has announced that it has expanded its reach to more parts of Chennai. It is not available up to Siruseri on OMR, Mayajaal on ECR and Perungalathur Shriram Gateway on GST Road. You can find the detailed coverage areas on the map on official Uber website. It is expanding phase by phase, so could expand to more places in North Chennai soon.

It recently expanded its coverage in Delhi. Uber launched uberX, a low-cost Uber service cheaper than the UberBLACK in Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad in India. It also introduced Fare splitting option that is available on the Uber app. This lets you split your fare when you travel with up to four friends.

In Bangalore, Uber is running a limited period offer that offers 50% off on first fare-split ride on uberX. So all fare-split participants will receive 50% off their respective fares after the split is effected. This is available till August 31st.
