Facebook testing a persistent notification bar for your Android device

Facebook continues to push its mobile first approach and is currently testing a new feature on the Android version. Facebook now wants to be always on with a persistent notification bar that displays your display picture and provides direct access to your newsfeed, friend requests, messages and notifications.

The persistent notification bar feature has been rumored since late last year and it looks like Facebook has started testing the feature. The usability of this persistent notification bar is a question to be posed for vast majority of users as I would not be willing to see my face each time I pull down the notification bar.

According to The Next Web, a Facebook spokeperson was able to this. They said that they were indeed testing out this feature and this feature was available to a small circle. When asked about being able to disable the feature, the spokesperson said it was possible to do so and can be achieved by pressing the “i” icon to the extreme right. It will take you to the settings page where you can disable the feature.
