Nokia Lumia 510 spotted again, specs and pricing leak out

The Lumia 510 is supposed to be Nokia’s first entry to the sub $200 smartphone market, and it was leaked out, a month ago, with pictures from China’s search engine “Baidu”. Now it has been spotted again, in pictures, and the specs and pricing have been reportedly confirmed by the anonymous tipster who sent this to GSMArena.

The Lumia 510 is a low end Windows Phone, supposedly running the older of Windows Phone – version 7.5 according to the picture above, but, like all 7.5 devices, it is supposed to run the newer successor, the 7.8. The specs earlier pointed at a 4 inch display, MSM7227A Snapdragon 800 MHz processor with 256 MB of RAM have been confirmed by the tipster now. The pricing was also reportedly confirmed which, initially will start at 150$.

Since it was leaked on the Chinese website earlier, it is widely believed that it will debut in the Chinese smartphone market initially, and may be later, throughout the world. But the attention for the low end in the Chinese smartphone market is understandable considering that it is a very huge market and Nokia definitely needs some thing at this price range. This applies to other developing markets like India too.

With this phone, one thing is very clear. Microsoft and Nokia are probably going to stick to a two pronged strategy for their smartphones. Windows Phone 7.8 devices for the low – mid and mid end, and Windows Phone 8 devices for the mid to high and the high end. But only time can tell if this strategy is going to work out, considering the platform limitations that still exist on Windows Phone 7.5 and lets not even start talking about the hardware constraints that the 256 MB RAM poses.

Finally, this device has been kind of leaked in detail now, and it’s high time that Nokia acknowledges its presence and explain us what the new strategy is going to be like, in time for its Q3 results.
