Google Maps update 5.3 for Android brings location dashboard, home check-in and adding aspects to places


Google Maps for Android devices got updated to version 5.3, that brings location history dashboard, home check-in and adding aspects to a place while rating them.

The location history could be enabled from the Google latitude on a computer or directly from the Google latitude app on the phone. This dashboard feature lets you keep track of miles traveled, time spent at home, work or outside and history of your check-ins and these are private to yourself.

The home check-in lets you to set a location for your home on Google latitude, by entering your address and checking in at your home. This lets you to keep track of time you spent at your home on the location dashboard. Setting location for home or sharing your home check-ins with your friends are completely optional.

Along with the check-ins and rating for the places you visit, now you can add aspects like food, music etc. for others to know what that place offers.
