GoPro HERO6 Black waterproof action camera, Fusion 360-degree 5.2K Spherical camera announced

GoPro has finally introduced the HERO6 Black action camera along with GoPro Fusion at an event in San Francisco. The GoPro HERO6 Black packs the same exterior design as the HERO5, but has seen upgrades with increased frame rate and better image quality. While the GoPro Fusion is a 360-degree camera that can record 5.2K videos at 30Fps.

The HERO6 Black sports a 2-inch LCD touchscreen display and is powered by the custom-designed GP 1 processor. There is a 12-megapixel sensor that can shoot images in JPG or RAW and can record 4K videos at 60fps and 1080p videos at an impressive 240fps. It is compatible with GoPro Quik stories app, so you can create cinematic videos using the pictures and videos shot using the HERO6.

The company says that they have significantly improved the dynamic range, especially in the low-light conditions. Image stabilization is done digitally, no support for optical stabilization yet. The GoPro HERO6 Black comes with the all-new touch zoom feature and is also waterproof up to 10 meters. The GoPro HERO6 Black uses the faster 5GHz WiFi band to transfer all the footage shot to your smartphones. It has voice controls with up to 10 languages support. Sensors include Accelerometer and Gyroscope.

GoPro Fusion

Fusion is the GoPro’s 360-degree spherical action camera that can shoot videos up to 5.2K at 30fps and 3.2K videos at 60fps. The Pilot program for it was announced back in April. It comes with an 18-megapixel sensor that can capture spherical images and videos with 360-degree audio.

GoPro says that the Fusion comes with a gimbal-like stabilization which results in smoother videos. It is also waterproof up to 5 meters and also has support for voice controls in 10 languages. Users can take advantage of the OverCapture feature which allows users to create traditional video from a spherical footage. The GoPro Play app which will be available from early 2018 can be used to play GoPro Fusion footage as VR content.

The GoPro HERO6 Black is priced at $499 (Rs. 32,645 approx.), and the GoPro Fusion costs $699 (Rs. 45,729 approx.). The HERO6 Black is now available from GoPro.com and at select retailers worldwide. While the GoPro Fusion is up to pre-orders and will ship from November.
