Truecaller has launched Truecaller 8 for Android with a bunch of new features. The app is getting SMS inbox, flash messaging, and Truecaller Pay. In addition, Truecaller has teamed up with Airtel and Google for more features.
First up, Truecaller is getting SMS inbox that will identify unknown SMS, block spam and block contacts by name and number series. Secondly, the app is launching a new way to send pre-defined messages and emojis to friends and family if you are driving, busy in office, in case of emergency and so on. The highlight of the update is Truecaller Pay feature that will allow users to send and receive money. Users can create their unique Virtual Payment Address (VPA) in the app after which they can send and receive money using any UPI ID, or mobile number registered with the BHIM app. This feature will be available for both ICICI and non-ICICI users.
Truecaller is also teaming up with Google to bring Duo video calling within the Truecaller app. It will be launched in coming months for Android and iOS. Finally, the company is also partnering with Airtel to launch Airtel Truecaller ID for feature phone users who will receive Flash SMS of unknown numbers before they receive the call. This allows feature phone users to better avoid spam calls.
