Western Digital introduces new 4TB My Passport Ultra portable hard drives

Western Digital today launched a new external 4TB storage capacity hard drive My Passport Ultra, and announced that the My Passport for Mac and My Passport Ultra Metal portable hard drives with same 4TB capacity will be launched soon.

Like all other WD portable drives, the new My Passport Ultra 4TB drive comes with 256-bit AES hardware encryption with password protection and WD automatic backup software with Dropbox integration. It features USB 3.0 with maximum 5GB/s transfer speeds.

“The increasingly mobile lifestyle has consumers capturing their lives with smartphones and high-resolution cameras, growing their personal content collections and creating demand for even more storage capacity,” said Sven Rathjen, Vice President of Marketing, Content Solutions, Western Digital. “At WD, we’re committed to providing our consumers with space to take their digital lives with them through high-capacity and high-quality devices.”

The all new My Passport Ultra 4TB portable hard drives come with a 3-year limited warranty and are now available from the WD store and at select retailers and distributors at a suggested retail price of $159.99 (approximately Rs. 10,800).  It comes in four colours – Classic Black, Brilliant White, Noble Blue and Wild Berry. The My Passport for Mac and My Passport Ultra Metal 4TB hard drives will be available from next quarter, said company.
