Announced in March 2015, the BlackBerry Leap is making its way to India later this month. The handset combines mid range specifications, solid reliability of BlackBerry OS with it’s enterprise credentials and a low enough price to offer a gateway product for mid level executives. The core specifications make it sound like a not so modern handset but give the Leap a chance and it is greater than the sum of it’s parts. The BlackBerry Leap employs a compact 5 inch 720p display. It is powered by a 1.5Ghz Snapdragon S4 processor and has 2GB of RAM onboard. An 8MP camera is placed at the rear while a 2MP camera can be used for video calling purposes. The phone is powered by BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 OS.

The BlackBerry Leap is priced at $275 globally. The Indian pricing is expected to be around Rs. 22,000 when it is available starting 12th May. We’ll be sure to update the price here as and when the retail price point is announced but rest assured, this handset is going to face stiff competition from the Android competition. The phone will not be exclusive to any online partner and is expected to be promoted through offline as well as online retail channels.
