Android-based Samsung Galaxy Spica Gets Launched

The Android based Samsung Galaxy Spica(I5700) has been finally launched.

Offering a full suite of Google Mobile Services like Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Calendar, GTalk etc. The Samsung Galaxy SPICA runs on Android “Cupcake” 1.5 and boasts of a 3.2” HVGA TFT full touch screen and a 800Mhz Processor.

Ranjit Yadav, Director – Mobile and IT, Samsung Electronics said, “Applications from the Android Market can be downloaded and installed on to the Galaxy SPICA over the air, without the use of a PC, thereby opening up an entire new world to themobile phone user .”

The new Galaxy SPICA also offers social networking with location based GPS tagging, which allows users to update their location status as they interact with friends and family in the social networking space. “With the Galaxy SPICA and the Android Market access over the air, mobile customization has a new meaning. The phone can function as a scanner, metal detector, a mobile office and even as a Fitness trainer depending on the user needs”, said Yadav.

Salient features of Samsung Galaxy Spica:

  3. 800 MHz processor.
  4. 3 mega pixel camera.
  5. 163MB Internal memory with support for expandable memory of upto 32 GB.
  6. Multi Format Music Player with a 3.5 mm headset jack.
  7. Support for 3G and WiFi connectivity.
  8. DivX Video Playback.
  9. Accelerometer and Proximity Sensor.
  10. Digital Compass.
  11. Location based GPS tagging.

The Samsung Galaxy Spica will be launched in India at a price of Rs 14,750.

    in d version of android i.e android 1.5…which comes preinstalled in d mobile…doesnt support OBEX file transfer…though some apps promises to support bt fr dat you have 2 root your device…which is a bit risky…
