Microsoft smartband with cross platform support, 11 sensors coming in October: Report


Last month reports surfaced online stating that Microsoft is planning to launch a fitness focused smartwatch. The patent images of a possible smartwatch also gave us an idea of the look of the device. Now, a latest tit bit on the smartwatch is coming from Tom’s Hardware saying that Microsoft Smartband will be launched in October.

The report citing some sources stated that the smartband will come equipped with 11 sensors open APIs and cross-platform compatibility. This means that the device can be used on multiple platforms like iOS, Android and Windows Phone. Giving insights about the look of the device, the report touts that the Microsoft Smartband will not have a traditional display screen on the top, instead it will be on the inside of the wrist. Also the design of the device will be slim and flat resembling to that of a Nike fuel band.

Moving on, talking about the under the hood components of the smartband, the report adds that it will have chips from TI and Atmel.  It is expected that it will have a slick user interface. The smartwatch and fitness tracker market it getting crowded with new and scheduled launches. Last month LG G watch and Samsung Gear Live were launched at the Google I/O conference. Also, Motorola’s Moto 360 will be available in near future.
