Sandisk has announced an exclusive partnership with Meta to provide next-generation flash storage solutions for the upcoming Meta VR Glasses, scheduled for release in spring 2027. Under this agreement, the storage hardware will be integrated directly into the official “Made for Meta” accessory ecosystem.
Developed in direct collaboration with Meta, the product lineup includes Sandisk microSD Express memory cards and USB-C flash drives. The hardware has been tested and certified specifically for the new headset, aiming to address the read and write performance requirements associated with expanding libraries of virtual reality games, applications, and immersive media.
Certification under the “Made for Meta” program requires third-party accessories to meet specific operational and build benchmarks established by Meta. According to the announcement, this testing protocol is intended to verify sustained data transfer rates and seamless plug-and-play compatibility across supported VR software environments.
The dedicated Sandisk storage products will launch concurrently with the headset and will be distributed across all retail markets where Meta VR Glasses are officially sold.
Regarding this, Susan Park, vice president, product management, Consumer Products at Sandisk, said:
We are thrilled to be the exclusive storage provider to help Meta power the future of virtual reality. Sandisk’s high-performance microSD Express memory cards integrate seamlessly with new Meta VR Glasses offering immediate access to additional storage capacity, allowing users to fully enjoy their favorite premium media and entertainment content.
