Airtel Business has announced the launch of Airtel IQ Gateway, a telco-grade network intelligence platform designed to integrate multiple enterprise communication channels onto a single control plane. Compliant with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, the solution consolidates SMS, WhatsApp, Rich Communication Services (RCS), voice communications, and silent authentication into a unified system.
The release aims to address widespread operational challenges faced by enterprises in sectors such as banking, financial services, insurance (BFSI), e-commerce, logistics, and government. Historically, businesses have relied on fragmented vendor ecosystems and disparate tools to manage outbound messaging and customer interaction. This fragmentation has frequently contributed to delivery tracking discrepancies, manual compliance errors in Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) template management, and exposure to automated threats such as International OTP pumping.
Core Capabilities and Fraud Prevention
Airtel IQ Gateway integrates core telecommunications intelligence directly into enterprise communication workflows. Key architectural and functional features include:
- Unified Multi-Channel Routing: Enterprises can manage SMS, RCS, WhatsApp, and voice traffic through a single dashboard, complete with native DLT template integration and automated failover across backup routes.
- Silent Authentication and SIM-Binding: By replacing standard SMS-delivered one-time passwords (OTPs) with network-level SIM verification, the platform confirms that an entered phone number matches the active physical SIM or eSIM in the device, mitigating SIM-swap and credential-interception vectors.
- Airtel IQ Verify: A network-level risk-scoring engine that analyzes device, usage, and carrier signals to identify synthetic profiles, unauthorized account takeovers, and fraudulent onboarding attempts.
- Fraud Mitigation and Cost Controls: The system monitors traffic anomalies to prevent artificial traffic inflation, shielding organizations from inflated billing cycles caused by bot-driven SMS pumping.
- Auditable Delivery Analytics: Network-grade delivery reporting provides verifiable visibility into message states, counteracting false-positive delivery acknowledgments.
Deployment Architecture
The platform supports two deployment models to align with institutional data governance and infrastructure needs: on-premises deployment for organizations with strict data residency mandates, or a managed Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model hosted on Airtel’s cloud infrastructure.
Following pilot programs across domestic financial institutions and commercial partners, Airtel Business has opened nationwide commercial availability for the platform, with demonstration access scheduled for the upcoming India Mobile Congress.
