iQOO has officially announced its latest flagship device, the iQOO 16, as it had promised. The smartphone introduces updated internal hardware centered on high-tier gaming performance, display efficiency, thermal management, and an expanded battery system.
Design and Display Architecture
The iQOO 16 arrives in three colorways: “Light Chaser,” “Racing Track,” and “Legend.” The rear camera housing (Deco) uses a floating design underneath a glass cover, arranging three lenses into an interconnected triangular profile. The chassis integrates rounded corners and a slightly curved frame engineered to blend flush with the rear panel.
Front-facing visuals are driven by a 6.85-inch 2K Samsung Everest display capable of up to a 165Hz refresh rate. It supports high refresh rates across the top 100 everyday applications and more than 50 gaming titles. Key display characteristics include:
- Material & Efficiency: The panel integrates Samsung’s M16 luminescent material alongside 2K LEAD 2.0 technology, reducing power consumption by 31% compared to a similarly sized 1.5K display.
- Luminance: Supports a global peak brightness of 2,800 nits and a local peak brightness reaching 10,000 nits, paired with an in-house solar algorithm and anti-reflective (AR) surface film.
- Eye Care & Dimming: Employs non-polarized light emission designed to emulate natural light, supported by full-brightness DC dimming, up to 3,300Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and dedicated game glare protection.
Processing, Thermals, and Gaming Hardware
At the core of the iQOO 16 is the Snapdragon 8 Ultra (Gen 6 Extreme) platform built on a 2nm process node, posting an AnTuTu benchmark score of approximately 5.57 million points.
To regulate heat during sustained loads, the device incorporates an 8,500 mm² single-layer 3D vapor chamber (VC) that sits closer to core thermal zones, backed by a three-layer graphite configuration totaling 29,453 mm². Dynamic workload regulation is handled by the updated Monster Hyper-Core Engine and an embedded Hyper-Core scheduler.
Graphics and Frame Acceleration
The onboard Q4 gaming chip introduces full-scene ray tracing alongside the QNSS super-rendering engine. The system supports simultaneous 2K resolution + 165 fps frame interpolation across six major mobile titles, native QNSS rendering profiles across 11 games, 2K super-resolution on 13 games, and 165 fps modes across hundreds of titles. Built-in streaming tools include an 8K gaming camera pipeline and a dedicated live broadcast assistant.
Camera System
The rear imaging array is led by a 1/1.3-inch large-format primary sensor, providing a 79% increase in light intake relative to the previous generation’s high-end benchmark.
- Image Processing: Uses the NICE 3.0 optical reconstruction engine and Super Light and Shadow HDR software.
- Periscope Telephoto: Equipped with a 50 MP Sony periscope telephoto module featuring CIPA 5.0 optical image stabilization.
- Color Science & Live Modes: Offers standard vivo-derived color profiles—Original Color, Chasing Light, and Rich Color—as well as 4K Ultra HD Live photo support with adjustable cover frames and style layering.
Software, Battery, and Power Delivery
The smartphone debuts OriginOS 7. Key multitasking capabilities include the Atomic Workbench, which allows up to five applications to operate on a single screen simultaneously, alongside Little V Dynamic Components for automated task creation and personalized desktop utilities.
Powering the device is an 8,400 mAh Blue Ocean battery. Charging solutions include:
- 100W wired fast charging
- 40W wireless charging
- Global direct-drive power supply to bypass the battery during intensive gaming sessions.
