OnePlus has officially detailed the camera specifications and core hardware features for its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 16. The announcement highlights a major overhaul of the device’s imaging hardware, introducing a 200-megapixel primary sensor alongside upgrades across the entire camera array, display aesthetics, and processing platform.
Camera System Architecture
The OnePlus 16 marks the debut of a 200MP sensor within the brand’s flagship lineup, integrated with the company’s next-generation LUMO light-condensing imaging system. The rear camera setup consists of three high-resolution sensors paired with an upgraded front-facing unit:
- 200MP Primary Camera: Features a 1/1.4-inch sensor paired with an f/1.6 aperture designed to optimize light intake.
- 50MP Periscope Telephoto Lens: Utilizes an upgraded Sony IMX882 sensor, delivering 3x optical zoom and up to 6x lossless digital zoom.
- 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera: Offers a 116-degree field of view for landscape and wide-frame capture.
- 50MP Front Camera: Upgraded to support autofocus for higher-fidelity portrait and video capture.

Beyond imaging, the OnePlus 16 is confirmed as one of the earliest commercial handsets powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform, intended to deliver enhanced on-device processing and computational photography throughput.
On the exterior, the handset adopts a flat display profile framed by four-sided symmetrical bezels engineered to narrow tolerances, accented by rounded corner profiles aimed at improving ergonomic hand-feel. The device will launch in three standard color options:
- Tomorrow’s Starlight
- Dark Forest
- Martian Masterpiece
Ambient Interaction Features
The company also introduced the “Interstellar Light Effect”, a dynamic illumination interface integrated into the device’s software framework. The lighting system triggers distinct visual patterns across several everyday operational contexts, including incoming voice calls, push notifications, media playback, charging status indicators, gaming sessions, peer-to-peer red envelope alerts, and one-touch device pairing.
