Amazon India has announced that its flagship annual sale event, the Amazon Great Indian Festival, is scheduled to commence on October 8, 2026, a day before the Flipkart Big Billion Days Sale.
The sale brings promotional pricing, product launches, and seasonal discounts across major consumer categories, alongside substantial additions to the platform’s supply chain and seasonal workforce.
Discounts, Banking Partnerships, and Selection
The promotional event encompasses categories including smartphones, consumer electronics, home appliances, fashion, beauty, kitchenware, and daily essentials. Amazon confirmed partnerships with financial institutions, offering a 10% instant discount on State Bank of India (SBI) credit and debit cards as well as EMI transactions. Prime subscribers will be eligible for up to an additional 10% discount on select purchases.
The sale structure features structured promotional slots such as “Blockbuster Deals,” “Top 100 Deals,” “Mega Deals,” and specific evening-timed discounts, complemented by purchasing programs like “Buy More Save More,” “Exchange Mela,” and no-cost EMI arrangements.
Alongside consumer commerce, Amazon noted that Prime Video will roll out a scheduled festive catalog featuring regional and original programming across Indian languages.

Logistics Expansion and Seasonal Hiring
To accommodate projected festive demand, Amazon India reported the creation of over 160,000 seasonal job opportunities within its operational network. These positions are distributed across approximately 400 cities, covering major metropolitan areas as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 locations.
The platform has expanded its domestic infrastructure by integrating 20 new fulfillment centres, six sort centres, and 150 last-mile delivery stations. Amazon’s registered seller network now exceeds two million merchants nationwide, following the onboarding of more than 300,000 sellers over the previous year.
Delivery Speeds and Quick-Commerce Footprint
The company outlined several fulfillment tiers for the festival period, including same-day delivery on over one million products, next-day fulfillment on more than four million items, and standard Prime shipping options across the broader catalog.
For ultra-fast fulfillment, the platform’s quick-commerce service, Amazon Now, currently operates in more than 60 cities—including non-metropolitan hubs such as Jalandhar, Tirupati, Warangal, Dharwad, Vellore, and Berhampur.
The service covers groceries, fresh produce, personal care, and select small appliances. Amazon stated that Amazon Now is slated to expand to 100 cities prior to Diwali, with regional availability accessible through the designated section in the primary mobile application.
