Fairphone has introduced the Fairphone (Gen. 6+), its latest modular smartphone. The launch also marks the company’s first direct smartphone sale in the US.
The Fairphone (Gen. 6+) has a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 1116×2484 resolution, 431ppi density, and a 10-120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It supports HDR10 and 10-bit colour, with up to 1,400 nits of automatic brightness, and uses 0.7mm Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Storage can be expanded using a microSD card of up to 2TB.
For cameras, it has a 50MP Sony LYTIA LYT-700C main camera with OIS and EIS, alongside a 13MP ultra-wide camera. The front camera uses a 32MP Samsung KD1 sensor.

The 4,415mAh removable battery supports 27W fast charging and up to 30W peak power. It is rated for up to 19 hours and 38 minutes of talk time, 17 hours and 59 minutes of web browsing, 14 hours and 57 minutes of video playback, and 521 hours of standby time. Charging reaches 50% in 30 minutes, 80% in 45 minutes, and 100% in 85 minutes.
The phone runs Android 16 and is promised six major Android updates, with software support through 2033. It does not include preinstalled third-party apps beyond the Google suite and My Fairphone. The Fairphone Gallery app provides local photo and video storage, while Fairphone Moments offers a switchable minimalist mode.
Connectivity includes 5G with NSA and SA support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. It supports one nano-SIM and one eSIM, while USB-C handles charging, data transfer, OTG, and digital audio.
Repairability and sustainability
The Fairphone (Gen. 6+) has 12 user-replaceable parts that can be changed using a single screwdriver. The USB-C port, battery, display, and back cover can be replaced in under five minutes. It has an A repairability rating and a 10/10 iFixit score, with spare parts available through 2033.
The phone has IP55 protection and has undergone MIL-STD 810H testing, including a 1.5m drop test and 45 repeated 1m drops. Fairphone also lists more than 70,000 bend tests.

- Repair-centre servicing for microphones, side buttons and fingerprint sensor
- 12 replaceable spare parts
The device contains 51% fair or recycled materials by weight across 15 materials, including recycled aluminium, copper, steel, indium, magnesium, nickel, plastics, rare earth elements, tin and zinc, along with fairmined tungsten and gold. Fairmined credits are used for gold, silver and cobalt.
Fairphone lists an estimated carbon footprint of around 29.3kg CO₂e, excluding the SD card, and says the phone is 100% e-waste neutral. Its packaging contains 52.8% recycled paper and no plastic. The final assembly factory and three key suppliers participate in the Living Wage Bonus programme, with more than $1.25 million paid since 2019.
Cobalt Blue and Fairphone’s Mining Efforts
The Fairphone (Gen. 6+) is available in Cobalt Blue, alongside Forest Green and Horizon Black. Fairphone connects the new colourway with its work on cobalt sourcing and mining conditions. The company’s efforts include:
- Fair Cobalt Alliance: Fairphone co-founded the FCA to support improved working conditions in artisanal cobalt mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Fair Cobalt Credits: Fairphone introduced Fair Cobalt Credits and says it pays a premium for the cobalt used in its smartphones based on these credits.
- Fairphone’s origins: The company began in 2010 as an awareness campaign focused on conflict minerals in consumer electronics.

Pricing and availability
The Fairphone (Gen. 6+) is priced at USD 649 (EUR 649 / Rs. 62,135 approx.) in the US. It is fully unlocked and supports AT&T and T-Mobile networks. It is available through Fairphone.com and Amazon in Cobalt Blue, Forest Green, and Horizon Black. The phone comes with a five-year warranty.
Fairphone is also offering integrated accessories in the US, including a protective case, flip case, cardholder, finger loop, lanyard, and screen protector.
Coming in Q4: Fairbuds 2
Fairphone also announced the Fairbuds 2, its next-generation modular wireless earbuds. The company said they are planned for Q4, with the next announcement scheduled for October. The earbuds are being developed with a focus on repairability and performance.
