OnePlus confirms US and Europe exit, Global transition to ColorOS with ColorOS 17, reaffirms India commitment

After reports, OnePlus has confirmed a major restructuring of its global operations, confirming the conclusion of new product rollouts in both Europe and North America.

While the brand winds down its hardware presence in these Western markets, it is shifting its software ecosystem toward ColorOS and reinforcing its commitment to its expanding operations in India.

Hardware Exit from Europe and North America

As part of a proactive global strategy adjustment, OnePlus will no longer introduce new device lineups to European markets, alongside its announced exit from the United States and Canada. The company expressed that the decision follows a difficult corporate assessment and marks a significant operational pivot.

Continued Device Support and Consumer Protections

Despite the cessation of future hardware launches, OnePlus stated that its commitment to servicing existing customers remains intact:

  • Software Lifecycles: Backed by parent company OPPO, existing OnePlus devices in Europe and North America will continue to receive scheduled software updates and security patches for their originally committed support periods.
  • Customer Service: Standard customer service, repair operations, and warranty channels will remain fully functional.
  • Statutory Rights: Legal protections under national consumer protection laws in European countries, the U.S., and Canada remain entirely unaffected.
Community Platform Closure

In tandem with the North American market exit, the dedicated regional platform and its mobile application will officially shut down on August 16, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET.

User-generated content will no longer be publicly accessible after this date, and users are encouraged to manually download their posts and media beforehand. Personal data will be managed in compliance with the company’s privacy policy.

A global Discord server will be launched to keep the international community connected socially, though it will not serve as an official support channel.

Global Migration to ColorOS 17

OnePlus is shifting its software strategy on a global scale. Following the official release of ColorOS 17, users worldwide with eligible OnePlus devices will be given the option to voluntarily update to the ColorOS platform.

According to the company, migrating to a shared software architecture with OPPO is intended to streamline development, accelerate update delivery, improve overall software quality, and maximize shared R&D capabilities.

Software Transition Details:
  • Voluntary Upgrades: Eligible users can choose whether to transition to the latest ColorOS system or remain on their current software.
  • Rollback Support: Users who opt into the ColorOS update will retain the ability to roll back to OxygenOS. Specific system versions available for rollback will be detailed in future announcements.
  • Legacy Models: Older models outside the upgrade scope will continue to receive standard version maintenance support.
Sustained Investment and Growth in India

In stark contrast to the withdrawals in Europe and North America, OnePlus reiterated that India remains one of its most critical global markets. Addressing recent market speculation, Ford, Vice President of OnePlus, confirmed that regional operations are expanding.

Portfolio Expansion

Highlighting strong sales performance during Amazon Prime Day and a positive reception for the budget-focused N Series, OnePlus plans to launch the OnePlus N6x in the coming days. The company aims to broaden its regional portfolio to cater to a diverse range of consumer price segments in India.

Infrastructure Integration

To support this regional focus, OnePlus has integrated its after-sales infrastructure with OPPO’s existing network in India. This move grants local users access to more than 600 service centers across the country, aimed at ensuring faster and more convenient technical support. Existing product lifecycles, warranty coverages, and device servicing remain fully active for all Indian consumers.
