Chrome gets advanced Autofill for Android and iPhone, expands Google Wallet integration

Google has announced new updates to Chrome’s Autofill feature, extending advanced autofill capabilities to Android and iPhone users while deepening integration with Google Wallet across mobile and desktop. The update allows users to securely autofill more types of personal information, including passport details, driver’s license information and payment data.

Chrome Autofill now supports more complex data

Chrome’s Autofill feature already helps users save time when completing online tasks such as flight check-ins and parking payments. Google has expanded the feature to support more complex data types, enabling users to automatically fill:

  • Flight details
  • Vehicle information
  • License plate number
  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
Chrome expands Google Wallet integration

Google is also deepening Chrome’s integration with Google Wallet across mobile and desktop. Chrome can now automatically fill forms using information stored in Google Wallet, including:

  • Driver’s license details
  • Passport information
  • Known Traveler Number (KTN)
  • Payment information

If these details are not already stored in Google Wallet, Chrome can prompt users to save them to Google Wallet when they manually enter the information in Chrome for the first time.

Privacy and security

Google says Chrome will only save or autofill personal information with the user’s permission. Sensitive information remains encrypted.

Users can manage or update their stored information through Google Wallet settings or the Autofill and passwords page in Chrome settings. Private passes, including digital IDs, can be managed through their own dedicated controls.

Availability

The new advanced autofill features are rolling out to Chrome users on Android and iPhone (iOS), while the expanded Google Wallet integration is available across mobile and desktop.
