TP-Link India has announced the commencement of local manufacturing for its Wi-Fi 7 product portfolio in India. The move establishes the company as one of the first global networking brands to localize Wi-Fi 7 production following the Department of Telecommunications’ (DoT) January 2026 notification that delicensed the lower 6 GHz spectrum band.
Production will initiate with the Omada EAP770 enterprise access point. TP-Link India plans to progressively expand localization across its broader Wi-Fi 7 portfolio in a phased manner to meet domestic demand and eventually supply select international markets.
Regulatory Catalyst and Local Production Scales
The DoT’s recent regulatory update unlocked 500 MHz of spectrum in the 5925–6425 MHz band for license-exempt usage. This decision to delicense the lower 6 GHz spectrum enables the deployment of Wi-Fi 7 solutions for both enterprise and residential users across the country, paving the way for nationwide adoption of the technology.
Currently, approximately 92% of TP-Link India’s product portfolio sold within the domestic market is manufactured locally through Indian Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) partners. Under the ‘Make in India’ framework, the company is targeting a localization level of 96–97% over the next three years.
Technical Specifications and Enterprise Portfolio
Wi-Fi 7 technology is projected to enhance network capacity, lower latency, and improve reliability. These performance upgrades are aimed at supporting cloud computing, video collaboration, IoT ecosystems, and artificial intelligence-driven applications in high-density environments.
In alignment with these technical capabilities, TP-Link India has introduced a comprehensive range of Wi-Fi 7 access points under its Omada portfolio, covering indoor, outdoor, and in-wall deployments.
Key Features of Omada EAP770:
- Deployment Design: Tri-band Wi-Fi 7 ceiling-mount enterprise access point tailored for high-density environments such as campuses, hospitals, retail spaces, hospitality networks, and educational institutions.
- Network Management: Integrates with the TP-Link Omada Software Defined Networking (SDN) platform, allowing centralized, cloud-based network management across distributed locations.
The company intends to further expand its localized Wi-Fi 7 product offerings in the coming months to cater to evolving enterprise requirements.
Regarding this, Sanjay Sehgal, MD and CEO, TP-Link India, said:
Manufacturing Wi-Fi 7 products in India reflects our long-term commitment to supporting the country’s digital infrastructure ambitions and the vision of AatmanirbharBharat. With the opening of the 6 GHz band, India is entering a transformative phase in enterprise connectivity. We are continuously strengthening our manufacturing capabilities, expanding our R&D ecosystem, and investing in partner development to not only address India’s evolving technology requirements, but also position India as a strategic manufacturing and supply hub for global markets.
