Amazon has launched its latest streaming device in India, the Fire TV Stick HD, after the global launch last month. The new model features hardware and software upgrades designed to improve speed, navigation, and portability, alongside the introduction of cloud gaming capabilities to its HD streaming lineup.
Performance and Connectivity
The updated Fire TV Stick HD delivers measurable speed improvements over previous generations.
- Processing Speed: Amazon reports the device operates over 30% faster on average compared to its predecessor, resulting in quicker boot times and application launches.
- Video Quality: Supports 1080p Full HD streaming integrated with HDR10+.
- Connectivity: Equipped with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 support to maintain stable video streaming, even on slower internet connections.
Redesigned Form Factor
The physical design of the streaming stick has been updated to be more compact and travel-friendly.
- Slimmer Profile: The device is approximately 30% slimmer than other models in the current Fire TV lineup.
- Direct Power: It can draw power directly from a television’s USB port. This eliminates the necessity of a separate wall adapter and allows the device to fit discreetly behind the TV.
Interface and Content Accessibility
The device ships with a redesigned Fire TV user interface aimed at streamlining content discovery and smart home management.
- Organized Navigation: The new layout features dedicated categories for movies, TV shows, free content, and live TV.
- Smart Home Integration: Users can access smart home controls directly from the interface to manage Alexa-compatible appliances such as air conditioners, lights, and fans.
- Streaming Library: Provides access to thousands of applications and extensive content libraries across providers like Prime Video, Netflix, JioHotstar, YouTube, and Zee5 (subscription fees may apply).
- Remote and Mobile App: Includes the Alexa Voice Remote for voice-command navigation. Additionally, it integrates with the newly updated Fire TV mobile app—launched earlier in 2026—which allows users to manage watchlists and cast content remotely from their smartphones.
Xbox Cloud Gaming Integration
For the first time on an Amazon HD streaming device, the Fire TV Stick HD supports cloud gaming. Users can download the Xbox app to play cloud-enabled video games directly on their televisions without requiring a traditional gaming console.
Utilizing this feature requires an active Xbox Game Pass subscription and pairing the stick with a compatible Bluetooth gaming controller.
Pricing and availability
The new Amazon Fire TV Stick HD is priced at Rs. 4,999 and is now available from Amazon.in, Blinkit, Flipkart, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto and will be available in retail stores soon.
