Dell has launched the XPS 14 and XPS 16 laptops in India, introducing a redesigned lineup focused on portability, performance, and updated hardware. Designed for use across work and mobility scenarios, both models are thinner and lighter than previous generations. The updated design also places the XPS logo at the center of the lid for the first time, based on user feedback.
Dell XPS 14 and XPS 16
The XPS 14 and XPS 16 feature a chassis built using CNC-machined aluminum and Gorilla Glass 3, with a design that minimizes visible seams. Both laptops measure 14.6mm in thickness, with the XPS 14 weighing 1.36kg and the XPS 16 at 1.65kg. Dell states these are its thinnest XPS laptops to date and notes that both models are lighter and more portable than earlier generations.
The laptops bring back the traditional function row and include a zero-lattice keyboard designed for improved typing feedback during extended use. The seamless glass touchpad uses subtle etching for smoother navigation.
Both models are powered by Intel Core Ultra 3 series processors, with configurations up to the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H. They include Intel Arc integrated graphics with 12 Xe cores and support up to 32GB LPDDR5X memory. The platform supports AI-driven workloads and Copilot+ PC features such as image editing and video processing.
Key performance figures:
- Up to 57% faster AI performance (XPS 14)
- Up to 78% faster AI performance (XPS 16)
- Over 50% faster graphics performance compared to the previous generation
The thermal system has been redesigned with larger and thinner fans, up to 61% bigger, to improve airflow. Dell states this results in up to an 8°C cooler base and up to 36% lower noise levels.
The laptops use high energy-density batteries and are the first to feature 900 Wh/L battery technology in this category. Dell states this enables extended runtime within a slim design and positions battery performance among the highest in the segment.
Battery figures:
- Up to 27 hours of Netflix streaming
- More than 40 hours of local video playback
Both models feature InfinityEdge displays with options including a 2K LCD panel and higher-resolution 2.8K or 3.2K Tandem OLED touch displays. The Tandem OLED panels are designed to improve brightness, colour stability, and lifespan, while reducing power consumption by up to 30% compared to earlier OLED panels. The 2K LCD option reduces power usage by up to 15%. All display options include Eyesafe technology.
The audio system includes a 10W quad-speaker setup designed for spatial sound. The laptops also feature a compact camera module with a first-to-market ultra-narrow optical design. The camera supports up to 8MP/4K resolution, along with an improved sensor and 1080p video clarity.
In terms of sustainability, the devices are ENERGY STAR certified and EPEAT Gold registered with Climate+. They incorporate recycled materials such as steel, cobalt, and copper. Modular USB-C ports are included to support easier repairs, and the packaging is fully sustainable.
