The Sony Xperia 1 VIII, the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone, has surfaced in the first set of renders, thanks to @OnLeaks. This reveals a familiar 6.5-inch OLED screen with a symmetrical bezel on the top and the bottom.
However, the phone has a new square-style rear camera deco. It is said to measure 161.9×74.4×8.58mm (~11.37mm with the camera bump), almost similar to the Sony Xperia 1 VII, but the new camera deco is said to make the camera bump thicker.
We can expect the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC for the phone, and the phone is said to get three 48-megapixel cameras, upgrading the telephoto lens from the 12-megapixel sensor in the older models. In addition, Sony is expected to retain the 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD card slot for the Xperia 1 VIII to meet the core needs of loyal users.
The Sony Xperia 1 VIII is expected to be introduced in mid-May 2026 and roll out starting from June 2026. We can expect the announcement regarding the launch event in early May.
