Airtel expands 5G network in Gujarat with 2750 new sites

Bharti Airtel has announced a significant expansion of its 5G network infrastructure in Gujarat, deploying more than 2,750 new sites across the state over the past 12 months. The telecommunications provider stated that the initiative aims to deliver faster internet speeds, wider coverage, and an improved overall network experience for its user base.

Scope of Expansion

The network upgrade spans 36 districts, extending high-speed connectivity to a stated customer base of over 41 million people. According to the company, the rollout has progressed at a rate of eight new sites going live each day. This expansion strategy targets a mix of demographics, extending infrastructure into urban centers, emerging towns, and rural villages.

Key Districts and User Impact

The enhanced 5G footprint is expected to directly benefit subscribers in major districts, including Ahmedabad, Baroda, Rajkot, and Surat. The expanded network capacity is designed to support the daily digital requirements of various groups, including students, citizens, micro-businesses, and government institutions.

Airtel notes that the upgrades will facilitate improved daily digital activities, such as:

  • Smoother media streaming and faster downloads.
  • More reliable connectivity for online work and remote learning.
  • Uninterrupted processing of digital payments.
Strategic Investments and Consumer Offerings

To complement the expanded coverage, Airtel highlighted its ₹399 recharge pack for smartphone users, which currently features a fully unlimited data plan designed to support uninterrupted digital access without data caps.

The company stated that its continued investments focus on increasing network density across diverse geographical terrains. This includes rural and semi-urban villages, highways, border areas, and key economic and cultural corridors, with the goal of ensuring robust connectivity in high-mobility and high-usage zones across Gujarat.

Commenting on this, Adarsh Verma, CEO – Gujarat, Bharti Airtel, said:

Data consumption across Gujarat continues to grow rapidly, and our focus is to stay ahead of this demand by consistently strengthening our network. The addition of over 2,750 new 5G sites across the state will deliver faster speeds, wider coverage, and a superior connectivity experience for millions of customers. At Airtel, we remain committed to powering Gujarat’s digital growth with a robust and future-ready network.
