Nothing Phone (4a) Pro with 6.83″ 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, 5400mAh battery launched in India starting at Rs. 39,999

Nothing has launched the most expected Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, the company’s latest smartphone and the successor to last year’s Phone (3a) Pro, as it had promised.

Display, Performance and Software

The phone features a large 6.83-inch 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED screen with up to 5000 nits of peak brightness and is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The phone also has 5,300 mm² vapour chamber system and offers BGMI at 120 Hz and PUBG at 90 Hz.

The phone runs Android 16 with Nothing OS 4.1. The company has promised 3 Android OS updates and 6 years of security patches, same as older models. The phone retains the Essential Key, and there is Essential Space.

Glyph Matrix

Instead of the Glyph light in the Phone (4a), this brings the Glyph Matrix that was first introduced with the Phone (3), which now has 137 mini-LEDs. While using fewer lights than before, it covers a 57% larger area and is 100% brighter at around 3000 nits, delivering sharper, more detailed notifications, said the company.

This offers Glyph Toys (such as Battery, Timer, Digital Clock, Solar Path, and Glyph Mirror) are fully supported, including integration into the Glyph Matrix AOD experience.

Camera and Build

The phone has a 50MP main camera with a Sony LYT700c sensor, OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP front camera but gets a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto camera with OIS and up to 140x zoom—the longest zoom ever on a Nothing phone and an industry-leading capability in its class, said the company.

The phone comes with a full-metal aluminium frame, 7.95 mm sleek design, and a different camera bar that houses the camera and the glyph matrix. The back uses Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. It features IP65 ratings for dust and splash resistance.

Battery

The Indian version of the phone packs a 5,400mAh battery compared to 5000mAh in the predecessor, and the global version has a 5080mAh battery. It retains support for 50W PD charging, which can charge up to 60% in 30. It doesn’t have wireless charging capabilities.

The phone can maintain over 90% of its maximum capacity after 1,200 charging cycles, corresponding to over 3 years and 4 months of daily charging, says the company.
