Vi has officially rolled out its 5G network services at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The deployment aims to provide high-speed connectivity to accommodate the communication and data needs of the high volume of daily visitors at the site.
Addressing High-Density Data Demand
The Golden Temple, which also houses the world’s largest community kitchen, receives an estimated 150,000 visitors every day. This high daily footfall generates substantial data demand and places significant traffic loads on mobile networks within a concentrated geographic area.
To manage this network strain and ensure stable service, Vi has implemented targeted network augmentation. The company has deployed dedicated 5G infrastructure both within and surrounding the temple premises. This network densification strategy is designed to provide users in the high-traffic environment with:
- Enhanced mobile broadband speeds
- Lower network latency
- Consistent connectivity, even during peak visitation hours
Ongoing 5G Rollout in Punjab
The activation at the Golden Temple is part of Vi’s broader strategy to expand its 5G presence in Punjab. Currently, the operator’s 5G services are active and available in Chandigarh, Mohali,Kharar and Zirakpur.
Vi has stated that the next phase of its 5G rollout is actively progressing, with further network enhancements and expansions planned across other regions of the state.
