OnePlus has announced several key specifications for its upcoming smartphone, the OnePlus 15R, which the company describes as its “ultimate value flagship.” Among the highlighted features is the device’s battery capacity, confirmed to be the largest ever in a OnePlus phone.
Battery and Charging Technology
The OnePlus 15R will house a substantial 7,400 mAh battery. OnePlus claims this large capacity is designed for extended use, stating the battery is built to maintain at least 80% capacity after four years of operation. The device will support OnePlus’s 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging technology.
Furthermore, the battery utilizes Silicon Nanostack technology, featuring a 15% silicon content in its anode, which is intended to provide “excellent energy density.”
Camera and Display Specifications
In terms of camera capabilities, the OnePlus 15R will be able to record 4K resolution video at 120 frames per second (fps), a feature previously available only on the flagship OnePlus 15 model.
The device is also set to feature a 165Hz 1.5K AMOLED display. Key display specifications include a pixel density of 450 pixels per inch (PPI) and a brightness range that can adjust from a peak of 1,800 nits down to 2 nits by default, or 1 nit when the Reduce White Point feature is activated. The display has also reportedly received the TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 certification.
Chipset and AI Features
The OnePlus 15R is confirmed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform, making it the first phone globally to launch with this chipset. OnePlus noted that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 was “co-defined and co-optimized” by OnePlus and Qualcomm over a 24-month period.
The smartphone will also support Plus Mind, OnePlus’s proprietary AI technology. This feature is designed to simplify data management; users can send screen content to Plus Mind via a “Plus Key” tap for analysis. Plus Mind’s capabilities include creating calendar invites and assisting with later data retrieval.
Launch Details
As usual, it will be sold on Amazon.in, in addition to OnePlus India store and offline stores after the launch. The full reveal of the OnePlus 15R, alongside the OnePlus Pad Go 2, is scheduled for a livestreamed launch event. The event will take place on December 17 in Bengaluru, India.
