Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold with 6.5″ outer and 10″ foldable 120Hz LTPO AMOLED screens, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, 200MP camera announced

After rumours, Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold, the company’s first trifold phone. The device features a multi-folding form factor that expands from a standard smartphone profile into a 10-inch tablet-sized display.

Display and Chassis Engineering

The Galaxy Z TriFold is defined by its two distinct displays. The cover screen is a 6.5-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio, mirroring the dimensions of a standard flagship phone. It supports a peak brightness of 2600 nits.

When unfolded, the device reveals a 10.0-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1584. Both screens utilize adaptive refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz.

Despite the complex hinge mechanism, Samsung has kept the device relatively slim. The folded thickness is 12.9 mm—comparable to early single-fold devices—while the unfolded profile measures just 3.9 mm at its thinnest point (excluding the camera bump). The device weighs 309 g, making it significantly heavier than a standard phone but lighter than most 10-inch tablets.

Material Build:

  • Front: Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2
  • Back: Ceramic-Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer
  • Frame: Advanced Armor Aluminum with a Titanium Hinge Housing
  • Durability: IP48 rating (submersion up to 1.5m freshwater; protection against solid objects >1mm, but not dust-tight).
Camera System

Samsung is aggressively positioning the Z TriFold as a photography flagship, headlined by a 200 MP Wide-Angle Camera with OIS and an F1.7 aperture. This brings the high-resolution capabilities of the S-series Ultra line to the foldable after the Galaxy Z Fold7.

The rear array also includes a 12 MP Ultra-Wide shooter and a 10 MP Telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom and up to 30x digital “Space Zoom.” For selfies and video calls, the device houses two separate 10 MP sensors—one on the cover screen and one on the main internal display.

Performance and Battery

The device runs on the Snapdragon® 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy (3 nm architecture). It is paired with 16 GB of RAM as standard, with storage options of 512 GB or 1 TB.

To power the massive screen, Samsung utilized a three-cell battery system totaling 5,600 mAh. Charging capabilities include 45W wired charging (approx. 50% charge in 30 minutes) and 15W Fast Wireless Charging 2.0.
