Vi (Vodafone Idea) has introduced a Family International Roaming (IR) proposition with discounted IR packs for secondary family members. The plan is aimed at postpaid and family postpaid customers travelling abroad.
The company noted that India is witnessing significant growth in outbound travel. According to the India Tourism Data Compendium 2025, 30.89 million Indians travelled abroad in 2024, marking a 10.79% year-on-year increase. Industry trends indicate a strong preference for family travel, with 59% travelling with a spouse or partner and 26% with family members, Vi said.
IR Pack Discounts
- Secondary members on Vi Family Postpaid plans receive a 10% discount on IR packs.
- REDX Family users receive a 25% discount on IR packs.
- Discounts apply to 10, 14, and 30-day packs starting at Rs. 2,999.
Family Postpaid plans start at Rs. 701, with options for 2 to 5 members. Customers can add up to 8 secondary members at Rs. 299 per member.
REDX Family Plan
Vi’s REDX Family Plan is available at Rs. 1,601/month for two members and provides:
- Unlimited data and calling on international roaming
- Four complimentary airport lounge accesses per year
- One 7-day IR pack worth Rs. 2,999 annually
- Annual 25% discount on a second IR pack worth Rs. 750
Travel Insurance and Baggage Protection
Vi (Vodafone Idea), in partnership with Aditya Birla Health Insurance, offers a travel insurance cover of Rs. 40 Lakh with all IR packs at Rs. 285. Coverage includes hospitalization, medical evacuation, baggage loss or delay, and trip interruptions.
Delayed baggage protection is available in partnership with Blue Ribbon Bags at Rs. 99, covering Rs. 19,800 per bag (up to two bags).
Availability
Vi currently provides unlimited data and calling on international roaming for eligible plans. These Family IR packs can be activated anytime through the Vi app or website by selecting the destination, duration, and plan.
