Apple updates MacBook Pro 14″ with M5 chip; India price starts at Rs. 1,69,900

Apple just introduced the new MacBook Pro powered by the new M5 chip as the successor to last year’s M4 model. The 14‑inch MacBook Pro with M5 offers up to 3.5x the AI performance1 and up to 1.6x faster graphics than the previous generation, said the company.

It still has a 10-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores and has 10-core GPU — with a Neural Accelerator in each core — it promises up to 3.5x faster AI performance than M4, and up to 6.4x faster time to first token performance than M1. There is a faster 16-core Neural Engine that further accelerates on-device, AI-driven tasks and enhances performance of the generative models that power Apple Intelligence.

Additionally, with up to 2x faster SSD performance than the prior generation, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro lets users load a local LLM faster, said the company. There are no change in other specifications or the design of the MacBook Pro.
