Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus could launch alongside Edge, Pro, and Ultra: Report

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup was initially expected to undergo a major change, with rumours suggesting the replacement of the Galaxy S26+ by a slim “Edge” model. However, recent reports indicate the company may reconsider and bring back the Galaxy S26+.

Galaxy S26+ Development Restarted

According to The Elec, Samsung has resumed development of the Galaxy S26+, internally codenamed M Plus, following weak sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge. The S26+ is expected to join the series alongside the Galaxy S26 Pro (M1), Galaxy S26 Edge (M2), and Galaxy S26 Ultra (M3), creating a potential four-model lineup instead of the originally planned three.

Sales Performance Driving the Change

The Galaxy S25 Edge, launched earlier this year, reportedly experienced plummeting production and low sales, with around 300,000 units planned from September to December.

In comparison, the Galaxy S25+ has a target of 500,000 units over the same period, reflecting stronger performance. Reviving the Plus model appears aimed at offsetting revenue loss, as the Edge’s underperformance could reduce overall sales despite its slightly higher price.

Galaxy S26 Series Outlook

Samsung had initially planned three models: a standard Pro version, Edge, and Ultra. The addition of M Plus suggests the series may include four devices. Industry sources indicate OLED panel development is already underway for all four models, according to the report.

We still have time to learn more about the development, as the launch is expected early January 2026.
