Samsung Electronics has extended its proprietary One UI platform to smart home appliances, creating a unified software experience across smartphones, TVs, and now home appliances.
As part of the rollout, Samsung Wi-Fi smart appliances introduced from 2024 will be eligible for seven years of updates, supporting extended functionality and security.
Unified Software Experience Across Devices
The company notes that One UI delivers a consistent interface across mobile, TV, and appliance platforms, with key functionalities including:
- Apps & Services: Applications such as Bixby, Gallery, and Samsung TV Plus are now available across different screens, enabling seamless media consumption and device interaction.
- Device Connectivity: SmartThings integration allows centralized control of home devices and services like Family Care, Pet Care, and Home Care.
- Common UI Features: Tools like Now Brief provide personalized information at a glance, including daily weather, family schedules, recipes, and appliance insights (e.g., remaining washing machine cycle time).
7-Year Software Support
Samsung confirmed that Wi-Fi smart appliances released from 2024 will receive seven years of software updates, ensuring ongoing security, performance, and device lifespan.
September Updates for 2024 Models
Starting in September 2025, eligible 2024 models will receive updates to enhance security, intelligence, usability, and interface design:
Security Enhancements
- Knox Matrix security extends to refrigerators, washers, dryers, air conditioners, EHS, and slide-in induction ranges.
- Trust Chain lets smart appliances track the security of other connected devices.
- Screen-equipped models (Family Hub refrigerators with 9” screens, Bespoke AI washers with 7” screens) receive encrypted Credential Sync, Passkey support, and the Knox Security dashboard, previously available on 2025 models, for real-time security monitoring.
Smarter Features
- Family Hub refrigerators get updated AI Vision Inside, recognizing frequently used packaged foods in addition to fresh foods.
- Bixby Voice ID allows devices to recognize individual voices and provide personalized experiences.
- Quick activation of Bixby is available via double-tap on the screen.
Service Expansion
- Samsung TV Plus is now accessible in Canada, Brazil, and India, alongside previously supported regions.
- 7”-screen washing machines will support eight additional Indian languages, including Bengali, Punjabi, and Gujarati.
Refined Interface

The refreshed One UI design, introduced on 2025 appliances, will be applied to 2024 models, including refrigerators, washers, ranges, and EHS devices, offering intuitive navigation and region-specific settings.
Availability
Eligible Samsung smart appliances launched in 2024 will start receiving software updates in September 2025, with ongoing support for seven years after launch.
