Sony has finally confirmed the launch of its next Xperia 1 smartphone on May 15th. Earlier reports pointed to a May 17th launch event for the Xperia phone. We can expect the Sony Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI smartphones at the event.
Sony Xperia 1 VI
Based on latest rumours, the Xperia 1 VI will feature a 2K OLED screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, BRAVIA HDR remaster technology and pack 48MP triple rear cameras with a wide-angle 24mm lens (48mm with 2X Optical Zoom), ultrawide angle 16mm lens and a telephoto zoom 85-170mm lens (Up to 7X Zoom).
The phone is said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, with improved heat diffusion and a vapor chamber to prevent overheating. It is said to pack a 5000mAh battery with wireless and reverse wireless charging and upgraded battery health technology.
Sony Xperia 10 VI
The Sony Xperia 10 VI is said to pack a 21:9 OLED screen, main + ultrawide cameras, Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC, IP65 and IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance and a 5000mAh battery, while maintaining the lightweight design from the predecessor.
Launch time
The Sony Xperia announcement on May 15th is set for 4PM Japan time (12:30 PM IST). The company offers a live stream of the event, as usual.
