HMD Global CMO Pekka Rantala quits to join ePass mobile payments company

HMD Global, the exclusive global licensee of the Nokia brand for mobile phones and tablet, appointed Pekka Rantala as their Chief Marketing Officer back in 2016. Almost after 3 years, he has resigned from the company and will be joining ePass mobile payments company soon.

HMD Global is yet to officially make the announcement, but according to a press release from ePass which is a mobile payment company, Pekka Rantala will join it as the CEO and one of its owner starting October 2019. He has mentioned that his interest in entrepreneurship made him take the decision of quitting HMD Global to join ePass.

He was the CEO of Rovio Entertainment prior to joining HMD and spent seventeen years in Nokia’s mobile phone business. Later, he left Nokia as the worldwide leader of Global marketing.

According to reports, HMD Global hasn’t done well with their marketing strategy and the change in leadership might make things better.
