JioPhone 2 with QWERTY keyboard goes on sale from August 16

Reliance Jio introduced the  JioPhone 2, the successor of  last year’s JioPhone last month. The company said that it will be available starting from August 15th. Today the company has confirmed that the smartphone will go on sale for the first time via flash sale on August 16th, 12PM on Jio.com.

The JioPhone 2 has a new design that includes a full QWERTY hardware keyboard along with a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, and it also comes with Dual SIM support, unlike the first generation model that only comes with single SIM. It has cat.4 LTE support with download speeds of up to 150Mbps with support both LTE (Band 3,5,40) and 2G (900/1800). It still runs KAI OS, and has the same cameras, battery capacity, RAM, storage and connectivity features as the first-gen JioPhone.

The JioPhone 2 is priced at Rs. 2,999. The company recently launched Monsoon Hungama Offer that allows any feature phone user can exchange their existing feature phone for a new first-gen JioPhone for an effective price of just Rs 501.

Jio recently released Google Maps, and today it said that it will release new Facebook as well as YouTube tomorrow, August 15th. However, the company said that WhatsApp for the phone will not be available tomorrow as it had promised, and will be available later.
