Microsoft starts sign-ups for Cortana for iOS in public beta

Microsoft’s virtual assistant Cortana is already available for Android and now the company is bringing it to iOS. The company is gearing up to let iPhone users test a version of Cortana for iOS.

Microsoft is now calling interested testers to sign up for the limited beta program. In order to participate in the beta, you will need to be a member of Microsoft’s Windows Insider Program and complete a short survey. The Cortana for iOS beta is only available in the U.S. and China, though over time, it will become available to all the same regions where Cortana for Windows is supported.

Microsoft says it will begin sending out download links over email “in the coming weeks”. However the testing will be available only for a limited number of members. Similar to Google Now, Cortana offers to do daily tasks like sending emails, scheduling events, keep track of your schedule, delivering reminders when you need them and so on. It must be noted that the iOS version of Cortana will not boast of all the features yet but Microsoft said it plans to frequently update the app with new features and functionality over the coming months.
